It was succeeded by the games Mario Kart DS and Mario Kart Wii in 20, respectively, and by the arcade games in. Retrostyle12 released v1.0 of the retro battle arena SNES Battle Course 4. Majas de pic released V1.0 of the retro track DS Cheep Cheep Beach. tarsa129 released v.beta of the custom track Making Some Pasta. The game is the fourth installment in the Mario Kart series, following Mario Kart: Super Circuit from 2001. Crow8028 released v1.0 of the custom battle arena Rainbow Rally. I certainly hope Nintendo released this game on the Switch virtual console, or recreates this idea in a future Mario Kart game. Mario Kart: Double Dash is a racing game developed by Nintendo Entertainment Analysis and Development and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo GameCube in 2003. This along with the ability to choose two characters makes you really ponder whether you should choose a certain pair of characters or not. You can't just choose your favorite character, but you have to choose a character which has the best special item (which is definitely Bowser). Next, I want to discuss the special items. Switching characters in order to fill up both item slots, then switching back in order to strategically choose which item I should choose in order to go up a place? Should I use my item as soon as I get a second one? Should I save them both? It's a fun rush to try to figure this all out on the fly. I need to be focused into a game.Īnother reason why I love it is the switching mechanic. Double Dash requires too much attention, which is good. I can talk and play Mario Kart 8, but I cannot talk and play Double Dash. Whenever I play them, I'm usually not focused in, as my brain can just autopilot and win. Not to insult modern Mario Kart games, but they're a bit too easy. One of the reasons I like Mario Kart: Double Dash is the gameplay. The game that kicked off the kart-racing genre, Mario Kart, has been updated with a new version called Mario Kart: Double Dash. But after playing every single cup, let me tell you, Mario Kart: Double Dash is probably my favorite Mario Kart game now, or atleast the concept is. Using X and Y instead of the Z button (L on modern consoles) confused me. At first, I started getting used to the controls. Although Double Dash did have an interesting concept, switching characters seemed irrelevant and more like busy work (note this was before I played the game). I've played MKDS, MKWII, MK7, MK8, and MK8DX (most of the modern Mario Kart games) as well as the the Mario Kart games for the SNES, N64, and GameBoy Advance. Before I played the game, I always thought it was probably overrated. However, through a few methods, I've played these games.Ībout two days ago, I played Mario Kart: Double Dash. Most of which consists on consoles that existed before I was born. For the longest time, I've been on a quest to play every majorly popular Nintendo game ever.
